Servers are multiple fully sandwalled full linux operating system environments running on superservers allowing full unrestricted root system administration by the customer but control of resources by the superserver. Through this arrangement it is possible to bring the advantages and power of the superserver to the customer at a realistic low monthly cost.
You will not be able to load kernel modules, recompile the linux kernel or access the physical devices of the superserver directly as to allow you to do so could jeopardise the stability of the superserver. Apart from this you have full root access to a Fedora Core 1 installation on a static/dedicated IP for your own dedicated presence on the internet - the same functionality as a dedicated box. You can install your own applications however there are many application templates ready for your use to save you the time of installing many applications from scratch yourself. Templates are available so that your server can be ready to go as a webmail, dns, mail, sql, php, shoutcast or ftp server for example. We are naturally bound by our ISPs acceptable use policy which is included within our own terms and conditions.
We use branded hardware with multiple SCSI 146GB Hitachi drives in a highly reliable redundant RAID configuration and at least 2GB of memory per superserver. If you supply us with the name of your server will we supply you with more specific information. All superservers are covered by 24/7 maintenance contracts however you are responsible for backing up your own data.
We purchase internet connectivity (transit) from Level 3, Teleglobe and the BBC and we are peered at LoNap and xchangepoint. All superservers have access to a minimum 100Mbps connection so your server is always highly available and responsive
Our servers are colocated in the London Telehouse facilities www.telehouse.co.uk under 24/7 security with redundant power supplies and air conditioning.
As the client base of Servelocity is highly technically able and in order to provide a highly competitive product Servelocity only provide discretionary support as standard.
We do provide a forum or community for users to help each other at boards.servelocity.net
Support contracts are available as is support on a per minute basis by calling 0904 448 0500 (calls charged at £1.00 per minute 9:30-5pm weekdays) however these options cover the operation and use of the server and but are not for general linux or internet training
We provide you with both root ssh access and also a web control panel and webmin access to your server. You may install telnetd if you wish, however this is not recommended. You do not have physical access to the server hardware. If you do not wish to use ssh access you can control the common functionality of the server such as web sites, ftp accounts and domains through the web control panel
We employ industry standard 128bit SSL encryption in our store and credit card details are encrypted. Our identity is verified by Geotrust during all transactions so transactions made with us are as secure as an order placed over the telephone.
What if I am not entirely satisified with my server?
We offer a 30 day money back guarantee on all initial purchases, except resources used. Just email us mentioning this guarantee and we will credit your credit or debit card for the subscription, however where extra bandwidth has been used which is was not included with the server purchased we will not be able to refund such bandwidth charges.
Can I transfer my domain name to be hosted by Servelocity or register a domain with Servelocity?
Yes. Servelocity uses the OpenSRS system for registration and transfer of domain names and use of our name servers is included in the domain registration cost. You may also of course use your server to run named and reply to requests relating to your domain.
